3 Things that are Destroying your Spirituality

If you are a Believer in Christ Jesus, spirituality should be defined as the understanding of one’s identity, life and the spectrum of creation via one’s spirit or one’s energy. After all, by the Scriptural standard of the New Covenant, the same Spirit that is in us, is the same Spirit that has given birth to the Universe, and therefore to understand the Holy Spirit in us, and as us, is to understand all things.

Here are 3 things that you may be doing that is currently affecting your Spiritual Health:

  1. Living by rule keeping systems that are based on moral approval and not actual function. Moral approval is very subjective if it is not based on verifiable laws of function. It can take many forms and is usually based on rules of conduct determined by what someone’s perspective is regarding being an acceptable person in the eyes of God. This is merely appeasing God. The objective of spirituality in the other hand is to reveal the Person or the Spirit of God in us, which means that we should not direct our attention to another’s perspective if this perspective is not giving clarity to who God is in us.
  2. Living guided by feelings and not by definition. Any change is the product of redefinition. Whether we are aware of it or not, we have defined ourselves. It is very common in our culture for us to either adopt our definition by association with others or by comparing ourselves with others. This means that everything that we feel is a fruit of what our existing definitions of our identity are. Our identity is basically the definition of ourselves, and what we feel is simply a result of how this definition is interfacing with or interacting with the varying functions of people and creation. All of these definitions are usually acquired by external points of reference. Spirituality, on the other hand, is based on living by the definition of our Spirit, which is internally. We find the definition of our Spirit, which is the Holy Spirit in us, in the Name of God. The Name defines What we are, Who we are, and How we are designed to think, from a Divine perspective. Ergo, when we change our definition, our feelings then take on a different disposition. Feelings are an expression of a definition, not a definition in and of itself.
  3. Adopting titles that are not found in the Name of our Spirit, which is the Name of God for our Identity. Every title comes with a definition, and every definition defines how we function, what our potential is, and what our limitations are. This means that our title determines the engine of our mindsets, which in turn, has the potential to both set us up for exceeding greatness in our lives, and/ or establish our life’s ceiling. The title that we make personal also sets the parameters of the Mind. With this in mind, we may want to consider veering away from adopting personal titles such as denominational titles, religious titles, racial titles, cultural titles, etc. Unknowingly we may fall into these societal norms but the reality is that it is an abandonment of our spirituality. The Name our Spirit, or the Name of God, is the only Name that defines the nature of our Spirit and how we are to divinely function. It is also the only Name that does not come with limitations and ceilings.
